These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and Beltren Inc. ("Beltren," "we," "us") governing your use of the Beltren platform, websites, and related services (the "Services"). By creating an account, joining the waitlist, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
The Services are for verified members of participating university communities who are at least 16 years old. You agree to provide accurate information during verification, to verify only your own eligibility, and to keep your account current. Verification methods may include an approved institutional email address, eligibility confirmation, an identity check, and a secure device-linked credential. Beltren Inc. is an independent technology company; membership in a Beltren community does not create any relationship between you and Beltren on behalf of any university, and Beltren is not sponsored by, endorsed by, or officially affiliated with any university unless expressly stated.
Accounts are personal. You may not share, sell, transfer, or lend your account or credentials, impersonate another person, or misrepresent your affiliation. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your linked device secure. Tell us promptly at eduard@beltren.org if you believe your account has been compromised.
You own the content you post. You grant Beltren a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute your content solely to operate and improve the Services according to your visibility settings. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups kept for a limited period or content others have re-shared within the Services under your settings. You are responsible for having the rights to what you post.
You agree not to: harass, threaten, or degrade others; post unlawful, hateful, or sexually exploitative content; impersonate any person or misstate your affiliation; run scams or deceptive listings; sell prohibited or unlawful items; collect, scrape, or re-share member information outside the Services; interfere with or probe the security of the Services; use the Services to send spam or unauthorized advertising; or assist anyone else in doing any of these. Community standards published within the Services form part of these Terms.
Marketplace, opportunity, and similar features connect members with each other. Unless expressly stated, Beltren is not a party to member-to-member transactions, does not hold funds, and does not guarantee any listing, opportunity, or outcome. Use good judgment, meet safely, and report concerns through the in-product tools.
The Services, including software, design, the Beltren name, and the Beltren mark, belong to Beltren Inc. and its licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Services as intended. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the Services except as permitted by law.
The Services may link to or interoperate with third-party services, including identity verification providers. Their terms and privacy policies govern your use of them, and Beltren is not responsible for third-party services.
You may stop using the Services or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access, remove content, or decline verification where we reasonably believe these Terms or community standards have been violated, where required by law, or to protect members and the Services. Where practical we will tell you why and how to appeal. Sections that by their nature should survive termination survive, including Sections 3, 6, and 9 through 12.
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, Beltren disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that verification eliminates all misconduct.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Beltren Inc. and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to the Services. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Services is limited to the greater of one hundred US dollars or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify and hold Beltren Inc. harmless from claims, damages, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your content, your use of the Services, or your violation of these Terms or of another person's rights.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you and Beltren consent to their jurisdiction. Counsel review should confirm the dispute-resolution approach, including whether arbitration and class-action provisions are appropriate, before publication.
We may update these Terms as the Services evolve. For material changes we will give notice through the Services or by email before they take effect. If you continue using the Services after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.
